Captain Reginald Hugh Errington, Royal Navy, retired (30 April, 1888 – ) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Errington was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant with seniority of 30 June, 1909.[1]

Errington was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 January, 1917.[2]

Errington was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1921.[3]

Great War

Errington was appointed to Challenger for the Test Mobilisation in July, 1914. On 1 August, he was re-appointed to her as Gunnery Officer. On 1 December, 1914, he left Challenger to take up an appointment to Cumberland, but he would soon leave her for an appointment to H.M.S. Excellent for gunnery duties.

On 6 May, 1915, he was appointed to Havelock to be first and gunnery officer. In January, 1917, he moved to Hindustan and then to Ajax at the end of April. He would be her gunnery officer through the end of the war.[4]

Post-War

On 6 September, 1919, Errington left Ajax to become the Gunnery Officer in Ramillies.[5]

He was appointed to Malaya as executive officer, vice Bates, on 10 July, 1925. He would be superseded on 30 January, 1926.[6]

Errington was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 15 October, 1926.

World War II

Errington worked inside the Admiralty in a Liaison capacity with U.S. naval forces, commencing in October, 1942.[7]

Errington was promoted to the rank of Captain on the Retired List on 8 May, 1946.
