Captain Bertram Sutton Evans, M.V.O., Royal Navy (17 December, 1872 – 2 March, 1919) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Evans was a noted cricket-player, batting right-handed.
Evans was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in June, 1894.[1]
Evans was promoted to the rank of Commander in June, 1905.[2]
Evans was promoted to the rank of Captain in June, 1913.[3]
Great War
Evans served as captain of the battleship Implacable from March to July, 1917.
He served as captain of Leviathan from April to December 1918.
He was appointed in command of the first class protected cruiser Europa on 13 January, 1919,[4] but died at the station hospital in Paris of influenza while travelling to assume command.[5]
