Service
Captain Miles was appointed in command of the light cruiser Comus in August, 1929, and while acting as Captain (D) of the Third Destroyer Flotilla, in command of "A" class destroyers Codrington, Acasta, and Active in 1930 through 1932. On 4 April, 1932, Active and Achates collided and Their Lordships informed Miles that "he must be held very seriously to blame for a grave error of judgment."[1]
