Herbert Lyon

Admiral Herbert Lyon, C.B., Royal Navy, Retired (28 December, 1856 – 6 March, 1919) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

Early Life & Career

Lyon was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant with seniority of 7 February, 1880.[1]

Lyon was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1894.[2]

Captain

Lyon was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1900.[3]

Lyon was appointed to the Tamar as Commodore, Second Class and naval officer in charge at Hong Kong on 18 August, 1908.[4]

Retirement

Lyon was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 25 January, 1913.[5] He was advanced to the rank of Vice-Admiral on the Retired List on 24 October, 1915,[6] and to the rank of Admiral on the Retired List on 1 January, 1919.[7]
