Admiral Algernon Walker-Heneage-Vivian, C.B., M.V.O., Royal Navy, Retired (4 February, 1871 – 26 February, 1952) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

Early Life & Career

Heneage was confirmed in the rank of Sub-Lieutenant on 14 November, 1890.[1]

On 9 May, 1892, he was confirmed in the rank of Lieutenant with seniority of 14 November, 1890.[2]

Heneage was specially promoted to the rank of Commander on 2 May, 1900, for services in South Africa.[3]

Heneage was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1906.[4]

On 1 February, 1910, Heneage was appointed to the command of H.M.S. Andromache.[5]

Great War

Heneage was appointed a Companion in the Military Division of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath (C.B.) on 1 January, 1916.[6]

Heneage was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 31 January, 1918, vice Foot.[7] On 9 March he was appointed British Senior Naval Officer, Italy.[8]

Post-War

Heneage was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 29 July, 1920, "in order to facilitate the promotion of younger officers."[9] On 21 July, 1921, he was granted Royal License to alter his name to Algernon Walker-Heneage-Vivian.[10]

Walker-Heneage-Vivian was advanced to the rank of Vice-Admiral on the Retired List on 8 October, 1923,[11] was advanced to the rank of Admiral on the Retired List on 1 August, 1927.[12]
