Germaniawerft or Friedrich Krupp Germaniawerft was a German shipbuilder in Kiel. It would build many of Germany's U-Boats and warships for the Great War.
History
The company was founded in 1867. It went bankrupt in 1879 after building Kaiser Wilhelm II's yacht, Hohenzollern. After a period of uncertain prospects, in 1882 it was re-organised as Schiff- und Maschinenbau-Actien-Gesellschaft Germania. In the 1890s, Krupp took over the company and warship construction started to pick up. The name eventually became Friedrich Krupp Germaniawerft in 1902.
