Captain (retired) Mervyn Patrick Traill Smith, (18 February, 1880 – 17 June, 1951) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Smith placed twenty-fifth of sixty candidates to the July, 1894 intake term at H.M.S. Britannia following competitive examinations.[1]
Smith was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 26 June, 1902.
Smith was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 26 June, 1910.
Appointed there in January, 1913, Smith would serve as navigator in H.M.S. Centurion throughout the Great War, being promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1916
Smith was placed on the Retired List at his own request at the rank of Captain on 18 February, 1925.
