H.M.S. Maori was one of twelve destroyers of the "Tribal" class.
Service
In mid-1913, she as serving with the Fourth Destroyer Flotilla.[6]
Later, while part of the Sixth Destroyer Flotilla, the ship was one of four of her class undergoing refit in Chatham Royal Dockyard until 8 July, 1914.[7]
On 4 March, 1915, Maori, under the command of Commander Barrow and Ghurka joined ten other destroyers in prosecuting U 8 which Viking had been attacking, successfully blowing the submarine to the surface and taking 28 prisoners.[8]
On 7 May, Maori joined Crusader in a reconnaissance of Zeebrugge. Maori struck a mine and sank near Weukubget Lightship. Two trawlers arrived to capture her crew.[9]
Radio
In 1909, she became one of forty-three destroyers so far fitted with Destroyer Sets.[10]
