Air Commodore SIR Robert Gordon, C.B., C.M.G., D.S.O. (22 January, 1882 – 25 September, 1954) served in the Royal Marines and the Royal Air Force.
Life & Career
Gordon was among the first group of student pilots to receive instruction at Eastchurch and became a flying officer in the Royal Flying Corps' Naval Wing upon its creation.
In 1915, Gordon went to East Africa to assist in destroying the German light cruiser Königsberg for which he was awarded the D.S.O..
Promoted to Air Commodore in 1925, he retired soon thereafter.
