Temporary Lieutenant R.N.R. William Quinn McKeown, D.S.C., R.N.R. ( – ) served in the Royal Naval Reserve.
Life & Career
McKeown was promoted to the rank of Temporary Sub-Lieutenant R.N.R. on 10 May, 1915. Appointed to Lilac on 14 June 1915, McKeown was mentioned in despatches for excellent service when she was mined but not sunk on 18 August, 1915. He would receive the D.S.C. for his work with the hawsers and shoring up of bulkheads.[1]
McKeown was promoted to the rank of Temporary Acting Lieutenant R.N.R. on 20 January, 1916.[2]
McKeown was promoted to the rank of Temporary Lieutenant R.N.R. on 10 May, 1917.[3]
Demobilised 19 August, 1919.[4]
