Commander Arthur Luard Pears, D.S.C. (8 September, 1894 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Pears's mother was a civil engineer.[1]

On 6 May 1913, lent to the Royal Australian Navy.

In January, 1916, he requested service in submarines.

Pears was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 August, 1916.[2]

On 9 July, 1919 he apparently took H 29 out of Copenhagen Harbour in a manner the Admiralty deemed "careless". Commander Horton noted that Pears's nerves seemed bad, and that he had made recent mistakes.[3]

Pears was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 August, 1924.[4]

Pears was placed on the Retired List at his own request at the rank of Commander on 21 September, 1935.[5]

World War II

Taken prisoner at the fall of Hong Kong.[6]
