Charles Ford Hammill

Captain Charles Ford Hammill, C.I.E. (27 November, 1891 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

His father was a Captain in the R.N., but he listed his mother as his guardian upon entering the Training Establishment in May 1904.[1]

Hammill was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 August, 1913. Hammill served in the battleship Colossus from 5 February, 1913, fighting in her at the Battle of Jutland. On 19 September 1917, he was appointed to her for gunnery duties on the Rear-Admiral's staff.[2]

Hammill was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 August, 1921.[3]

Hammill was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 192[?].[4]

Hammill was placed on the Retired List at the rank of Captain on 12 January, 1943.[5]
