Director of Works (Royal Navy)

The Director of Works of the British Royal Navy was the Admiralty official entrusted with presiding over the Works Department of the Admiralty, under the supervision of the Civil Lord. The Department was concerned with the architectural and engineering works of the Navy in Britain and overseas.

All Directors of Works, and other officers of the Works Department, were officers of the Royal Engineers seconded to the Admiralty.
