Life & Career

He left to become the gunnery officer in the light cruiser Coventry.[2]

Praised by Captain Binney as being "most efficient and hard working", and a man who would "make a fine commander of a big ship," Young-Jamieson was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1930.[4]

Young-Jamieson was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1937.[5]

He was appointed to the sloop Bideford on 14 November, 1938, to take command upon commissioning, vice Faulkner. He remained until being appointed to Kent, to take command in the place of a sick Leslie Haliburton Ashmore.[6]

World War II

Although his appointment in Kent was originally intended to be temporary, on 1 March 1940 he was re-appointed in command and as Flag Captain and Chief Staff Officer to R.A. commanding Third Cruiser Squadron upon the transfer of flag.[7]

Young-Jamieson was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 8 January, 1947.[8]
