Honorary Lieutenant Edward Davis, R.N. ( – 11 November, 1918) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

His date of birth is not noted on his Service Record.

Davis was promoted to the rank of Boatswain on 7 October, 1875.

Davis was promoted to the rank of Chief Boatswain on 1 April, 1896.

Pensioned on 31 March, 1905.

Davis was promoted to the rank of Honorary Lieutenant on 1 April, 1906. I think he is the only man I've seen with ah honorary rank.

Davis was called up for service during the Great War, handling mail duties at Pembroke and then unstated duties at Wildfire. He reverted to the Retired List on 1 November, 1917 and died on the last day of the war.
