Frederick Maynard Constable Curtis

Captain (retired) Frederick Maynard Constable Curtis, Royal Navy (28 November, 1888 – 15 September, 1969) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Frederick Maynard Constable Curtis was born on 28 November, 1888, the son of Frank John Constable Curtis and Louisa Mildred Smith-Dorrien, at Ross, Herefordshire.[1] His younger brother Frank Maynard Constable Curtis also served in the Royal Navy as a gunnery officer.

Curtis ranked 25th in merit of sixty cadets accepted in the May 1904 intake term at H.M.S. Britannia.[2]

Curtis was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant with seniority of 30 June, 1910.[3]

Curtis was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander with seniority of 30 June, 1918.[4]

Curtis was promoted to the rank of Commander with seniority of 30 June, 1924.[5]

Curtis was placed on the Retired List at his own request with the rank of Captain with seniority of 30 December, 1934.[6]

Curtis died on 15 September, 1969 aged eighty at his home, Westholme in Winston, Darlington.[7] He was survived by his daughter Ann and his wife Nora, who passed away on 3 February, 1974 at Westholme aged seventy-seven.[8]
