George Ralph Whittle

Lieutenant (retired) George Ralph Whittle (22 March, 1888 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Whittle was promoted to the rank of Acting Gunner on 14 December, 1916 and confirmed in the rank on 24 May, 1918. He served in PC 51 throughout most of this period.[1]

Whittle was loaned to the Royal Australian Navy for two years from 22 January, 1927. He was to be placed on the Retired List at his own request upon the expiry of this engagement, which occurred on 23 January, 1929.[2]

World War II

Whittle was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 4 August, 1940. In 1945 he was discharged as medically unfit for naval service.[3]
