H.M.S. Dragon was one of nine Doterel Class composite screw sloops completed for the Royal Navy.
Service
Commissioned at Devonport on 19 February, 1879.[4]
Dragon was re-commissioned at Malta on 1 November, 1882.[5]

- Commander Charles V. Anson, 8 April, 1884[7] – 27 August, 1886
