H.M.S. Medusa was one of five second class protected cruisers of the Medea class completed for the Royal Navy in 1889 and 1890.

Service

In May, 1906 it was ordered that three cruisers should tow the obsolete Medusa, Philomel and Rinaldo from the Firth of Forth to the Motherbank, where they were to be moored.[6]
