Service
Norfolk was commissioned at Devonport on 14 May, 1930 for service with the Second Cruiser Squadron in the Atlantic Fleet.[6]
She was re-commissioned at Devonport on 6 September, 1932 for service on the America and West Indies Station, bearing Commander-in-Chief Vice-Admiral Drax.[7]
In August 1934, the cruiser visited Esquimalt and then proceeded to Vancouver.[8]
She returned to Devonport on 30 November, 1934 after her stint as flagship, and paid off and re-commissioned on 22 January under Flag Captain Louis Henry Keppel Hamilton, expected to leave in March to relieve Hawkins as flagship on the East Indies Station.[9]
However, in October, Norfolk was again on the America and West Indies Station, bearing Commander-in-Chief Vice-Admiral Rose.[10]
