Inspector of Machinery (Royal Navy)
The number of Inspectors of Machinery was increased from five to seven from 1 April, 1877.
As of 1 April, 1900, an Inspector of Machinery of 8 years' service in that rank ranked with Captains of 3 years' seniority. An Inspector of Machinery with under 8 years' service as such ranked with Captains under 3 years' seniority.
