Captain James William Combe, C.M.G., R.N., Retired (29 November, 1854 – 31 July, 1921) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Combe was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 7 February, 1880.
Appointed in command of Waterwitch on 12 June, 1894.
Combe was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1896 and re-appointed in command of Waterwitch.
Appointed in command of Triton on 22 March, 1898. He gave up command to Captain George E. Richards on 1 February, 1899.
Combe was placed on the Retired List at his own request with the rank of Captain on 1 January, 1903.
Combe was appointed a C.M.G. for "excellent survey work done by him in the port of Rosyth and Firth of Forth", gazetted 1 January, 1918.
