John Evelyn Smallwood

Commander John Evelyn Smallwood, (10 May, 1910 – ) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Smallwood was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 1 August, 1932.[1]
Qualified as an interpreter in French.
He was appointed to Ark Royal on 15 April, 1939.[2] and was awarded the Henry Leigh Carslake Prize for an essay submitted as a Naval Observer for the Fleet Air Arm.
Smallwood was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 1 August, 1940.[3]
Smallwood was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1943.[4]
