John George Lawrence Dundas

Vice-Admiral (retired) John George Lawrence Dundas, (3 November, 1893 – 26 March, 1952) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Dundas was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 December, 1915.[1]

Dundas was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 December, 1923.[2]

Dundas was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1928.[3]

Dundas was executive officer in Valiant from 4 January 1933 to 25 October, 1934 when he was sent to Portsmouth for a Technical Course. This was followed by courseworse at Camberley and elsewhere from 21 January 1935 to late 1936.[4]

Dundas was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1935.[5]

Dundas commanded the light cruiser Nigeria from 18 June, 1940 to 28 June, 1942.[6]

Dundas was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 8 January, 1944.[7]

He was placed on the Retired List as medically unfit on 13 June, 1946 and was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 13 June, 1948.[8]
