Commander Laurence Chase Sharman, (28 March, 1899 – 1932) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
The son of a doctor, Sharman was appointed to the Vanguard on 16 March, 1915 or 1916 and was fortunate to survive her destruction on 9 July, 1917, having been one of sixteen of her crew to visit Royal Oak for an evening of entertainment. This made him one of approximately twenty-four of her men who escaped with their lives.[1]
Sharman was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 April, 1919.
Sharman was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 April, 1927
Sharman was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1930. He was killed in a street accident some time in 1932.
