Military Branch (Royal Navy)

The Military Branch was the division of officers in the Royal Navy who were "authorized to assume Military command of a Ship".[1] The name first appears in the Queen's Regulations of 1844. The title was partly replaced by Executive Branch after the First World War,[2] but remained enshrined in the King's Regulations and Admiralty Instructions as late as 1923.
