Reginald James Blakeney Drew
Lieutenant-Commander Reginald James Blakeney Drew (1 June, 1888 – 16 September, 1918) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Born on Trafalgar Place in Devonport.[1]
Drew was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 January, 1909. In March 1912, he was cautioned for causing damage to a turret buffer cyklinder of St. Vincent.[2]
Drew served as gunnery officer in Majestic from 12 August 1914 until she was lost on 27 May 1915.[3]
Drew was appointed to General Craufurd as gunnery officer on 17 June, 1915. In April 1916, he landed a 12-in gun from a monitor at Dunkirk.[4]
Drew was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 January, 1917.[5]
He was appointed to the monitor H.M.S. Glatton on 20 July, 1918 and died when she was lost to an internal explosion in Dover harbour on 16 September 1918.[6]
