Robert Algernon Newton

Captain (retired) Robert Algernon Newton, R.N. (23 July, 1874 – ) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Born in Brighton, the son of Lieutenant General Newton.
Newton was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 14 January, 1896.
Newton was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1906.
Retired at his own request on 6 December, 1910.
Newton joined Calgarian from Ferret on 2 October, 1917, to take command from Robert Gwynne Corbett, who had proven intemperate.[1]
Reverted to the Retired List on 30 April, 1918.
On 7 June 1919, Newton was promoted to the rank of Captain in recognition of war services, dated 11 November, 1918.
