Robert Gordon Hood Linzee

Captain (retired) Robert Gordon Hood Linzee, C.B., O.B.E. (26 January, 1900 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

On 18 March 1918, he was sent to Vernon for a course in Torpedo Control.

Linzee was sub-Lieutenant in the destroyer Nereus at the time of the Armistice.[1]

Linzee was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 June, 1920.

Linzee was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 June, 1928.

Linzee was promoted to the rank of Commander on 13 June, 1933.

He was retired at his own request on 1 July, 1936.[2]

World War II

Awarded his C.B. for planning operations for Operation Overlord.

Linzee was promoted to the rank of Captain (retired) on 3 September, 1945.
