Admiral SIRVictor Alexander Charles Crutchley, V.C., K.C.B., D.S.C., R.N., Retired (2 November, 1893 – 24 January, 1986) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Promoted to Midshipman on 15 May, 1911.[1]

Crutchley was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 September, 1915.

D.S.C. for Zeebrugge Raid.

Awarded a V.C. for Ostend blocking operation.

Post-War

Crutchley was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 September, 1923.

Crutchley was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1938.

Crutchley was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1932.

Crutchley was appointed in command of the battleship Warspite in May, 1937.

World War II

Crutchley was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 6 February, 1942.

Crutchley was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 15 August, 1945. Placed on the Retired List on 3 May, 1947, he was promoted to the rank of Admiral (retired) on 3 February, 1949.
