Admiral Ronald Arthur Hopwood, C.B., Royal Navy, Retired (7 December, 1858 – 28 December, 1949) was an officer of the Royal Navy and also a writer and poet of some distinction.
Life & Career
Hopwood assumed command of the destroyer Grafton in January 1909.[1]
He was appointed to command the battleship Prince of Wales on 20 November, 1910.[2]
He was made captain of Hercules in December of 1911,[3] and then was appointing in command of the first class protected cruiser Gibraltar on 20 January, 1913.[4]
He was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on the Retired List on 31 July, 1924,[5] and advanced to Admiral on the Retired List on 22 February, 1928.[6]
