Vice-Admiral SIR Robert O'Brien FitzRoy, K.C.B., F.R.G.S., Royal Navy (2 April, 1839 – 7 May, 1896) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

In accordance with the provisions of the Order in Council of 5 February, 1872, FitzRoy was promoted to the rank of Captain with seniority of 6 February, 1872.[1]

He was appointed in command of the battleship Invincible on 1 January, 1881.[2]

FitzRoy was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 14 May, 1888, vice Edye.[3]

On the occasion of the Queen's birthday he was appointed an Ordinary Member of the Second Class, or Knight Commander, in the Military Division of the Order of the Bath (K.C.B.) on 25 May, 1895.[4]
