Rear-Admiral Claude Congreve Dobson, D.S.O., V.C., (1 January, 1885 – 26 June, 1946) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Dobson was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 March, 1906.[1] After appointments in Niobe, Vengeance and Illustrious, he was appointed to Mercury for instruction in submarines.[2]
He was appointed to Monarch on 27 March, 1912.[3]
Dobson was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 March, 1914.[4]
Dobson was appointed in command of the submarine C 27 on 7 April, 1914.[5] On 20 July, 1915, C 27 sank U 23 off Fair Island.[6][7]
Dobson was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1918[8] and was superseded in command of the K 10 on 15 August.[9] He was appointed to Osea on 17 July, 1919 to command a flotilla of Coastal Motor Boats, and was awarded the Victoria Cross in recognition that on 18 August, 1919 his C.M.B. 31BD was credited with scoring two torpedo hits on a Russian battleship in Kronstadt harbour.

Dobson was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 19 July, 1936.[13]
