Captain Wilfrid Ward Hunt, D.S.O., R.N., Retired (26 July, 1883 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Hunt was born in London.

Hunt was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 31 December, 1904.[1]

Hunt was appointed in command of the second-class torpedo boat T.B. 42 on 1 August, 1906.[2][3] He would leave her for London on 16 May, 1907. On 2 June, 1908, he went over to the second class protected cruiser Fox.[4]

Hunt was appointed in command of the first-class torpedo boat T.B. 92 on 31 August, 1912.[5]

Hunt was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 31 December, 1912.[6]

Great War

About a dozen torpedo boats, all but T.B. 92 under command of a Gunner or a Chief Gunner, made up the Gibraltar flotilla from late 1913 onward. Hunt's senior rank likely made him the commander of this formation throughout the war.[Inference]

Hunt was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1916.[7]

Post-war

Hunt was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 31 March, 1923.[8]

Hunt was promoted to the rank of Captain on 26 July, 1928.[9]

Hunt was called back to naval service for the Second World War, being reverted to the Retired List on 12 December, 1945.[10]
