Captain (retired)Guy Stopford (3 August, 1884 – 10 June, 1954) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Born in New Windsor, the son of Viscount Stopford.
Stopford was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 December, 1905.[1]
Stopford was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 December, 1913.[2]
Great War
Stopford was appointed to the light cruiser Orion on 1 July, 1914 and remained in her until 29 January, 1918, being promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1917. On 8 February, 1918 he was appointed to the Chester.[3]
Post-War
He married Rosalinde Townley on 20 December, 1923 in St. Mary's Cathedral in Auckland, New Zealand.[4]
Stopford was placed on the Retired List with the rank of Captain on 3 August, 1930.[5]
