Captain (retired) Sidney Arthur Geary Hill, D.S.O., R.N. (5 August, 1881 – 18 March, 1953) served in the Royal Navy. In 1939 he altered his last name to Geary-Hill.
Life & Career
Hill was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 September, 1903.[1]
Hill was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 September, 1911.[2]
Hill was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1917.[3]
Hill was placed on the Retired List at his own request with the rank of Captain on 15 December, 1927 and appointed Naval Assistant to the Hydrographer. This appointment would be renewed in increments of five years until 1941, and then there would be three separate single-year extensions. It ended, perhaps, in August 1943.[4]
Hill died in 1953 of a coronary thrombosis.
