Admiral John Henry Godfrey, C.B., R.N., Retired (10 July, 1888 – ) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Born in Birmingham, the son of G. H. Godfrey, Esq..
Godfrey was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 October, 1908.
Godfrey was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 October, 1916.
Post-War
Godfrey was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1920.
Godfrey was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1928.
Godfrey was appointed in command of the battlecruiser Repulse in January, 1936.
Godfrey was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 22 February, 1939.
World War II
Godfrey was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 15 September, 1942.
Godfrey was placed on the Retired List with the rank of Admiral on 25 September, 1945.
