U.S.S. Mason was one of one hundred and fifty-six Clemson Class destroyers completed for the U.S. Navy.
Service
Mason was commissioned at Norfolk Navy Yard on 28 February, 1920 with Lieutenant Carl F. Holden in temporary command. Lieutenant Commander Hartwell C. Davis relieved him of command on 8 March.
Mason was one of the fifty U.S. destroyers transferred to the Royal Navy in 1940, becoming H.M.S. Broadwater.
