Admiral Francis George Eyre, Royal Navy, Retired (4 February, 1864 – January, 1941) was an officer of the Royal Navy.
Early Life & Career
Francis George Eyre was born in Marylebone on 4 February, 1864, the son of the Reverend Charles J. Phipps Eyre, Rector of St. Marylebone and landowner, and Mary Eyre.
Eyre was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant with seniority of 1 April, 1886.[1]
Eyre was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1898.[2]
Captain
Eyre was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1903.[3]
He was appointed in command of the Venus on 15 July, 1905.[4]
Eyre was appointed Chief Inspector of Naval Ordnance on 12 January, 1911.[5]
Eyre was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 14 October, 1913.[6]
Flag Rank
Eyre was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 1 October, 1918, vice Kerr.[7] He retired on 10 February, 1919,[8] and was advanced to Admiral on the Retired List on 1 June, 1922.[9]
