Lieutenant-Commander Walter James Burberry Handley, (9 October, 1894 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Born in Dublin, and employed as a labourer before joining the service. Handley fought at the Battle of Jutland in the battleship Neptune.[1]

He was granted the rank of Acting Mate on 11 December, 1917, and confirmed the same date. After half a year in Portsmouth on a vague assignment, he was appointed to the light cruiser Glasgow in June, 1918 and served in her until April, 1919.[2]

Handley was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant, dated 11 December, 1919 after being adjusted from 11 December 1920.[3]

Handley was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 11 December, 1927.[4]
