Commander Stuart Austen Buss, M.V.O, D.S.C. (26 March, 1900 – 13 November, 1943) served in the Royal Navy. His Service Record has him as "Austin", but other sources seem to agree on "Austen".
As with many men born c. 1899 or later, his Service Records at The National Archives do not reflect activity between 1931 and 1939 or so.
Life & Career
Buss was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 August, 1922.
Buss was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 August, 1930.
World War II
Buss was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1940.
Buss superseded William Napier Petch in command of the Template:UK-Dulverton in January, 1943 and died in November of that year when she was sunk by a glider bomb in the Eastern Mediterranean.
