Commander (retired) Mervyn Boyd Alexander-Sinclair, (15 August, 1894 – ) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
The son of Captain Edwyn Sinclair Alexander-Sinclair.
In February 1913 he was "somewhat to blame" for a collision between Orion's picket boat and a civil vessel at Weymouth.
He served in Orion from mid-1914 until being appointed to Rifleman on 15 December 1914.
He transferred to Mindful some time in 1915 and was re-appointed in her upon being promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 July, 1916. On 9 November 1917 Mindful collided with another vessel while under Alexander-Sinclair's temporary command.
On 27 December 1917 he was appointed to the battleship Royal Sovereign where he remained until being assigned to the destroyer Whitley on 5 January, 1920.
Alexander-Sinclair was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 July, 1924. He again served in Royal Sovereign from 10 August, 1926 until 15 September 1930.
Alexander-Sinclair was placed on the Retired List at his own request at the rank of Commander on 15 August, 1937.
World War II
