Captain (retired) Henry Purdon Boyd, R.N. (30 March, 1881 – 4 May, 1941) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Born in Antrim, the son of underwriter Henry Boyd.
Boyd was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 31 December, 1902.[1]
Boyd was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 31 December, 1910.
Boyd was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1916.
Boyd was appointed in command of the light cruiser Undaunted on 29 June, 1920.[2]
Boyd was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 18 October, 1922. He was promoted to the rank of Captain (retired) on 30 March, 1926.
World War II
The Naval Officer-in-Charge, Kirkwall reported that Boyd died suddenly of heart failure.
