Commander Samuel Arthur Brooks, R.N., Retired (8 May, 1893 – ) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
On 15 January, 1913, Brooks was promoted to Acting Sub-Lieutenant.[1]
Brooks was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 October, 1914. Though there is no indication of the usual training for submarines, Brooks was appointed to the A 8 on 13 December, 1914. He left her for H 9 on 5 June, 1915. On 16 January, 1917, he was appointed in command of C 6. On 30 November, 1917, he moved to command the larger D 6.
Post-War
Brooks was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 October, 1922.
Command of fishery protection ships Boyne on 15 April, 1929 and then Dee on 19 May, 1931 through 19 May, 1933.
Brooks was placed on the Retired List at his own request with the rank of Commander on 9 May, 1936.
World War II
Reverted to Retired List on 10 January, 1946.
