Captain (retired) Charles Norman Ebden Currey, C.B.E., R.N. (18 February, 1890 – ) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Currey entered the Navy via a Colonial Cadetship.
Currey was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 April, 1911.[1]
In 1915, Currey was awarded the Royal Humane Society's Bronze Medal for saving life from drowning.
Currey was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 April, 1919.[2]
Currey was recommended for a second R.H.S. Bronze Medal on 4 April, 1923 for saving an A.B. at Constantinople.[3]
Currey was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1925.[4]
World War II
Currey was placed on the Retired List on account of age at the rank of Captain on 18 February, 1940.[5]
Currey was awarded C.B.E. for distinguished services in operations which led to the successful landings in Normandy. In 1952 he was granted permission to proceed to Italy.[6]
