Engineer Vice-Admiral Sir Robert Bland Dixon, K.C.B., D.Eng. (1867 – July 28, 1939) served in the Engineering Branch of the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Dixon was promoted to the rank of Assistant Engineer on 1 July, 1888.[1] In April 1891 he was listed as attending the Royal Naval College, Greenwich.[2]
Dixon was promoted to the rank of Engineer on 1 September, 1892.[3]
Dixon was appointed additional to the Pembroke for service in the Dockyard Reserve at Chatham, in charge of the Drawing Office, on 3 August, 1899.[4] By early 1901, Dixon was serving at Chatham Dockyard as Second Assistant to the yard's Chief Engineer.[5]
Dixon was appointed additional to the drill ship President for service at the Admiralty in the Dockyard Branch on 16 April, 1904.[6] Three months into this appointment, he was promoted to the rank of Engineer Commander on 1 July, 1904.[7]
Dixon was appointed to the Royal Alexandra Dockyard at Haulbowline as Chief Engineer on 24 March, 1909.[8]
Dixon was appointed to Portsmouth Royal Dockyard as Manager of the Engineering Department on 9 October, 1912.[9]
Dixon was promoted to the rank of Engineer Captain on 24 February, 1915.[10]
