Vice-Admiral William Elrington Gordon, Royal Navy, Retired (20 May, 1831 – 7 July, 1897) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Gordon was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 1853.

Gordon was promoted to the rank of Commander in 1861.

Gordon was promoted to the rank of Captain in 1868.

Gordon was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 5 July, 1885.[1]

In accordance with the provisions of the Order in Council of 22 February, 1870 Gordon was placed on the Retired List on 20 May, 1891.[2] He was advanced to the rank of Vice-Admiral on the Retired List on 10 September, 1891.[3]
