Commander (retired) Cyril Gore (4 November, 1880 – ) served in the Royal Naval Reserve and the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Gore was promoted to the rank of Supplementary Lieutenant on 1 September, 1913 and was appointed to the battlecruiser New Zealand, in which he would serve until 9 July, 1915.[1]

Gore spent two months in the monitor M.17 and then two years in the destroyer Exmouth, leaving her when she paid off on 31 August, 1917. He served as gunnery officer in the {UK-Adventure|f=t}} before being placed in command of the convoy sloop Bryony in December, 1917.[2]

Gore was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 1 September, 1921.[3]

Gore took command of the Thisbe on 20 September, 1921 after spending two years on the staff of the new destroyer base at Port Edgar.[4]

Having recently completed a year in command of a group of reserve destroyers, Gore was placed on the Retired List on account of age at the rank of Commander on 4 November, 1925.[5]

World War II
