Lieutenant-Commander Arthur Neville Gouldsmith, R.N. (21 September, 1878 – 18 February, 1915) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Gouldsmith was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 1 April, 1901.
Gouldsmith was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 1 April, 1909.
Gouldsmith was appointed to the armoured cruiser H.M.S. Good Hope on 28 March, 1914 but was fortunate to fall sick, ensuring he would not die in her in the Battle of Coronel. He was appointed to the first class protected cruiser Europa during the Test Mobilisation in July, but was reported sick at home on 23 August. Whatever was afflicting him, he never recovered – his service record notes a series of medical evaluations. Gouldsmith died in mid-February, 1915.
