Captain (retired) Owen Christopher Hare, R.N. (25 November, 1885 – 28 February, 1956) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Hare was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 July, 1906.
Hare was appointed in command of the first-class torpedo boat T.B. 7 on 15 May, 1909.[1]
In August, 1912 while serving as gunnery officer in Illustrious, Hare was awarded 100 guineas for his scheme for tracking the path of heater torpedoes by means of oil carried in the torpedoes' heads.
Hare was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 July, 1914.
On 16 August, 1914, he was appointed in command of the first-class torpedo boat T.B. 5.[2]
Hare was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1918.
Post-War
Hare retired at his own request on 31 August, 1922.
Hare was promoted to the rank of Captain on 25 November, 1930.
